Welcome to Ms. Ducat's Physical Education & Accounting Webpage !!!!
It is my hope that the students in my PE classes at Iron Mountain Public Schools will find activities they enjoy doing so they will establish an active lifestyle throughout their lives. Classes are designed to introduce students to a variety of activities and provide them with the basic knowledge and skills needed so they are more comfortable participating in athletic opportunities outside the classroom. In addition, fundamental locomotor skills and fundamental object control skills will also be taught to increase coordination and body control skills.
Grades in my PE classes are based on participation and behavior, not on athletic ability. For the safety of the student, a pair of tennis/athletic shoes is required for all grade levels. Students in PE 7 and PE 8 are also required to change into a T-shirt/sweatshirt and a pair of shorts/sweatpants/leggings in addition to wearing tennis shoes. Repeatedly not having the proper shoes/clothing will lower the student's grade.
Students in my Accounting class are introduced to the concepts of the entire accounting process for a sole proprietorship and for a merchandising business. They will learn to journalize transactions in various journals, post journal entries, prepare a worksheet, and complete a balance sheet and an income statement. These concepts will help not only the students interested in pursuing accounting as a career choice, but also those students pursuing a related field. Everyone can also utilize these concepts for personal use in setting up a household budget, maintaining a checking account, or making financial decisions, etc.
